Why a Business Email Address is Good for your Business and How to Get One

If you are a business owner and you normally send emails to prospects, customers, etc. It is good for you to use a business email instead of a personal email.

There are many reasons for that and we will look at them while answering the following questions.
What’s the difference between a business email address and a personal one?
Why should I have a business email address?
How do I get a business email address?

1. What’s the difference between a business email address and a personal one?

Imagine you are looking for someone to do a service for you say, an accounting service.
You posted a request on your favorite social media platform or a newspaper looking for someone, and days after, you checked your email, and you got two responses.
The first thing you notice is the applicants’ email addresses. One seems way more trustworthy than the other, so you only reply to that address. But which one was it?
Let’s find out.
Which email seems more trustworthy and personal?
Emma’s email address seems like it’s coming from a real business.
John’s address, meanwhile, seems like it’s for his personal email, which could raise doubts about his professionalism.
So a  business email address is one that’s solely dedicated to business communication and ends in a company’s domain name (@accountingservices.com).

2. Why should I have a business email address?

Having a business email address may seem like it doesn’t really matter, but it can have a huge effect on your business because some other business owners will not feel comfortable doing business with you using your personal email address.
For example, it helps boost your company’s credibility by making your email communications look professional and legitimate.
A business email address also makes your company’s emails more consistent.
Also, if you have a team and every single one of your team uses the same business domain in their email addresses, it’s clear that you’re all on the same, unified team.
The connection between your business email address and your website domain can raise brand awareness, too.
Every time you and your team members email someone, your address will remind them of the company you represent.

3. How do I get a business email address?

I know you may be thinking, I am not a big company, so I cannot get a business email address.
You don’t need to be a big company with multiple employees or teams to get a business email address.
It’s easy and affordable for businesses of all sizes.
Even if you are the only employee of your business, you can create multiple email addresses that will handle different business communications:
With this, when you send an email using any of these emails, you will appear professional in the eyes of your target audience.
As your company grows, you can easily add email addresses for new employees. Or, if an employee leaves, you can still receive messages sent to their business email address.
You may be asking now.
What if you’ve been using a personal email address and it’s well known to your customers? It’s still a good idea to switch to a business address.
You can automatically forward messages to your new business address.
So how do you get started?
First, you need to purchase a domain name, i.e the address of your website if you don’t have any yet.
Even if you are not ready to build a website yet, you can still be using the business email attached to your domain.
You can get a domain from Namecheap, or Upperlink, or WHogohost.
In most cases, you may need also to purchase a hosting space to have an email account created for your domain.
If you have a domain already and want to know how to create an email from your Cpanel, you can watch this video where I showed a step by step guide on how to do it.
It will walk you through on how to create your email address, access it, customize it, and even redirect your personal email to the business owner.

So, go ahead, get a professional email address for your business, and start operating professionally.
To your success.

How your customers decide who to buy from.

How did you decide who to buy from when you made your last purchase?

You know that one of the questions we always ask is, who do I buy from?

The reason why we ask this question is that we don’t want to be scammed or cheated and we don’t want to make mistakes.

Whether it’s a product or service, we do the same thing.

We want to make a good or informed buying decision.

Do you know your prospective buyers think the same way when considering buying what you are offering?

HOW YOUR CUSTOMERS DECIDE WHO TO BUY FROM

There are 3 actions they will take before they will decide to buy either from you or from your competitors.

Today I want to share with you those 3 actions.

1. They will ask their friends

Our friends won’t tell us lies or deceive us. So we believe that whoever they recommend to us is both good and trustworthy. We all do it and your customers to be will do it.

They will ask their friends if they know someone that does this or sells that.

Even Facebook has something called Recommendations, where your Facebook friends can recommend who they know. The question is, will you be the person they will recommend?

I will show you how to be that person.

2. They will ask their networks.

You see, every one of us belong to a group or network, It can be a WhatsApp group, Telegram group, a Facebook group, etc.

If you are someone that offers great value in that group you belong to, whenever a member is looking for a reliable or trusted person to do business with, those in that network you belong to will definitely recommend you because they may have received value based on the content or the things that you have shared in that group. That’s why you need to become valuable in any group that you belong to.

 3. They will search the web

If they didn’t use any of the two options above, the next option is to go online to search for who to buy from.

Will, you be found online? If you are found, are you positioned to be the one they will buy from?

When they find you, the first factor they will consider is what others have said about you.

That is why social proofs or testimonials are a must-have if you have a presence online. You will not be there to convince them, what others said doing business with you will inform their buying decision.

Did you see how all these ties together?

How will you position yourself to be the one they will decide to buy from?

There is something you must do.

In my next post, I will show you how to do that. Watch out for it.

Are you using Educational Content in your marketing?

In 2020, Educational Content Marketing should be one of your key strategies.

It is no longer news that Content Marketing is the easiest way to grow your brand.

As a brand, you must find a way to infuse content marketing in your marketing strategy by creating content that will keep your brand in the hearts of your customers.

There are different types of content and one of them is Educational Content Marketing.

This is a type of content that enables you as a brand to educate your customers on how to use the features of your product or services.

It is sad to know that many brands are neglecting this aspect of marketing.

I once visited a shop to purchase a memory card with my cousin.

We wanted to purchase a 32gb card, even though I know that every digital disk always has a reserved space, so if for example, you buy 500gb hard drive, you will have been having around 465gb with the rest reserved for the drive to function properly.

But as a tech expert, I decided to test the girl by asking her if this 32gb card is actually 32gb in size.
she said yes that it’s full. So we tested it and as expected, it wasn’t up to.

I ask her why she couldn’t explain why and it was obvious she was not trained to educate customers on the features of the products.

This is not particular to store owners.

You go to some hotels, the room attendants cannot simply educate you on how to use certain amenities in the room.

You rent an apartment, some real estate agents can’t tell you what certain things do in the apartment even when you ask them.

A mechanic will be doing some adjustments on your car, you ask him why he is altering something, he can’t explain.

At worst, he will say it’s not doing anything. (So the manufacturer that put it is a fool)

As a business owner, as you are drawing up your content marketing plan, ensure that education marketing is number one on your plan.

Create educational content for your marketing.

content marketing
Doing this will enable you to educate your customers on how to use certain aspects of your product or service.

This type of content is mainly How-To type of content and can be in the form of;

Video – You can create one using your phone or some easy to use apps like Lumen5, Headliner, Quik or advance tools like Animation software, screencast software like Camtasia, Screencomatic, etc.

Audio – Using free tools like Audacity or even your mobile phone audio recorder.

Short Reports – You can write out step by step guide, convert it to a pdf file and send to your customers.

Infographics – You can use Canva to do this.

Take these steps and educate your customers and watch your brand grow.

Having a website maintenance plan is important for the safety and efficiency of your website.

Your website is at risk without a maintenance plan.

If you own a website or plan to get one, one of the things you must know is that your website is built using software and like any other software, they require regular updates to keep them running efficiently and readily available and accessible to your audience.

And as with all website applications, there is a possibility of cyberattacks in the form of hacking, malware injection, and bugs which can affect the codes on your website and cause it to malfunction.

Everyone is affected by this technical occurrence whether you are a big brand or a small brand. And because you are online, you cannot say it won’t happen to me. Banks, government agencies and multi-nationals are being affected.

Websites are being attacked and hacked regularly, and with a proper maintenance plan, your website can be free from attack.

One way to ensure you are not affected is to have a maintenance plan that will enable you to perform regular activities like backups, software updates(plugins and themes), security monitoring, fixing of bugs, SEO and many other activities.

The process of performing website maintenance can be tasking or technical if not too tech-savvy but it is something you have to do. This is because any slight mistake can alter your website and can make it either inaccessible to your audience or not to conform to Google’s website standards.
You do not want this to happen to you as it is not good for the growth of your business.

So what do you have to do?

You can either get someone to teach you how to do it or you can outsource it to a professional.

One good reason why you must outsource your website maintenance is that it will give you the time to focus on other important activities to grow your business.

If you are too busy to handle such a task, you can reach out to us as we have affordable packages that you can take up and we will handle all the technical activities for you.

Marketing your business using digital and social media is no longer an option.

It is a must that as a business owner that you understand who your customers are, where they are are, what they want, and how to reach them and most importantly, retain and keep them.

Another important thing to do in your business is measuring your return on investment.

This is why digital marketing is important to ensure that you bring your services and products to your target audience using the medium that best suits them and then ultimately measure how they interact with your products and services.

With the old or analog method of marketing using things like billboard, flier, TV, radio, newspaper etc, measuring how your advertising is doing and how your audience is interacting with it is not realistic.

This is why you need to implement digital marketing strategies in your business.

Join me this Thursday 24th Oct, as we look at how you can profit in your business using digital and social media marketing.
